Dr. Peter Eloho Umukoro is a summa cum laude graduate from the University of Port Harcourt with several years of combined experience in clinical and research work in primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary-level hospitals in Nigeria. His burgeoning research and clinical career encouraged him to pursue his MPH at Harvard with a focus on occupational and environmental health. During his MPH at Harvard, he was exposed to evidence-based medicine, and saw a need to hone further his research skills towards fulfilling his long term goal of creating the evidence that supports clinical practice, he continued on to pursue a doctoral degree at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in environmental and occupational medicine epidemiology. At Harvard, he has researched important occupational groups with peculiar exposures at work such as nurses, construction workers and welders. His research work focuses on the physical activity determinants of nurses and key determinants of ischemic heart disease risk in welders.
Having been a product of mentorship from several great people and institutions, I am totally committed to raising and developing others so that the future can be better and brighter than the past.
