Who we are
Transforming Africa Initiative (TAI) was founded in 2010 in Scotland, United Kingdom and was subsequently registered as a charity. TAI is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), registration Number SC042815.
Since its inception in 2010, we have proudly rolled out a number of developmental initiatives and interventions (informed by research) in our target communities. Examples of our developmental initiatives and interventions include our unique mentoring initiative (“A day in a year”), the TAI Beacons awards, the TAI schools club, TAI business initiatives, and HIV/AIDS campaigns. We also provide support to local groups and individuals (preferably women and youth) who are enterprising. Our goal is to empower people and communities so they can make decisions that are right and sustainable.

TAI events
The TAI Beacon awards, dinner and networking events provides a platform where we recognise individuals and groups that have laboured and continue labour to make a difference in Africa. These honours provide reinforcement for our unique mentoring initiative as awardees are selected (from a long list of nominees) to reflect the values and tenets of our mentoring. Award recipients are, therefore, a vital component of our mentoring initiative and present our mentees with good examples to emulate.
“Youth in Africa, and world over, are in dire need of healthy and positive examples (mentors) they could look up to”.
Recipients of the TAI honours are those who have weathered the storms of life in Africa and beyond the shores of Africa to attain great heights. By recognizing these icons, we present them (TAI Beacons) to upcoming youth in Africa as success stories worthy of emulation.
